       ·     Developed to betterment of basic units of democracy like panchayat.

iii.     1960 : Elected as Sarpanch of Sadhan Sahkari Samiti of Ujjarpar.

iv.     1962 : Elected as Member of the Gagaha Regional Committee in1962.

v.      1963 :Elected Member of the Gorakhpur District Council and Chairman of Gorakhpur District Social Welfare Council in 1963.

ii.    1980 : Elected as Member of Lok Sabha from Bansgaon (Reserved Constituency)

ix.   18th Dec. to 16 Nov. 1995 :
Held additional charges of Himachal Pradesh as Governor durig the period 18th Sept. to 16th Nov. 1995 and 23rd April 1996 to 26th July, 1997.

x.     2004 : Elected as Member of Lok Sabha from Bansgaon.

xi.    May, 2004 : Appointed Union Cabinet Minister for Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries.
